Martha and I presented a Live Zoom Webinar on arranging
nature in a photo to suit our needs as an artist.
We started by exploring various design possibilities utilizing photos
and a sketchbook, followed by a half sheet painting demonstration
and finished up with a Q&A .

Watercolor paper 15"x22" or smaller (I use Arches)
Watercolor Paints (I use American Journey paints from Cheap Joes)
*Students can use whatever they have for paper or paints
Blue: Manganese (light)
Thalo or Joe's blue (dark)
Red: Scarlet Lake or Red Hot Mama (light)
Permanent Magenta (dark)
Yellow: Aureolin yellow (light)
Burnt Sienna (dark)

Don uses an adjustable table easel as he paints at a 35-40 degree angle.
If you don't have an easel, you can just prop your board on something
so you'll have an angle.
The paint will mingle on the paper as it flows downward
which creates beautiful granular washes.
